RBR Wrestling Talk Co-Host search
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 5:34PM So visitors and friends to this site know that I was doing a live webshow called Talkin' Wrasslin' for a while and then put it on hiatus. It was getting to a point to where I was doing it by myself and that wasn't fun at all. I started to listen to RBR Wrestling Talk because a buddy of mine named Paul is one of the co-hosts and I rather enjoyed it. It was a little bit like what I wanted Talkin' Wrasslin' to be like because of the audience interaction and several different takes from 4 co-hosts. One of the co-hosts left so there was an opening and they decided to hold weekly contests to see who would be the new guy. I went ahead and signed up and made it through the first 4 weeks of competition, but I was cast off this Saturday. Ah, well. The two guys that I don't know where both kind of cool about it, but the one dude I do actually know was mute about the whole deal. I guess he didn't want people to know that I knew him, or something.
On their web forums, they have a thread for the co-host search which can be seen here.
Now here are my weekly entries and a little bit about what they are:
Challenge #1: Submit a 2 minute rant on the Undertaker/Teddy long skit from the 9/18/09 edition of SmackDown!
I called in for this one so the audio sounds like crap. I had a totally different take than everyone else and I got heat for what I said, but the fact that I was unique helped me on this one.
Challenge #2: Record and present a wrestling news story as a gag headline to be used in this week's return of The Lightning Round.
I used a mic for this one and did a piece on Lacey Von Erich's debut on TNA. It was kind of weak, but better than some of the others.
Challenge #3: Observe a wrestling subtly for the return of Jason's Little Things.
I didn't exactly get this one since I wasn't a listener when Jason was one of the co-hosts, but I used my new mic and sounded great and gave it my all with something that really bothers me about some fans. This got major heat from the limeys and micks that listen to the show, so that in itself put me one foot in the grave.
Challenge #4: Review a wrestling show from top to bottom in 90 seconds. It can be a TV show, a PPV, or an indy show. You must go over the entire card.
I did this, but I failed to actually give enough feed back on what I thought about the matches. This, combined with my heat from the previous week got me the boot.
I don't have any hard feelings, though I do believe my departure was a bit pre-mature. I also think that some of the other contestants really suck and are hard to understand. BUT, I'm not making the decision and I'm actually kind of relieved that I can go about having a life on Saturday nights instead of trying to do this. I will still listen to the podcast and be cool with Paul. No hard feelings to him, Matt or William. Keep up the good work and look out for my show when I finally get all of the pieces together!
