Break off Valentine's Vengeance before I celebrate Mardi Gras

Avast, loyal readers! Cap'n Zipp is back with TWO new photo sets from this weekend's wrestling adventures! As always, click on the photos link at the top of the page and check 'em out!

I will be talking about these shows in detail and also previewing the next IWE show on my podcast this Wednesday night at 9 PM CST over at www.blogtalkradio.com/robbzipp. Join the chat and call in if you have anything to add, mmm'kay?

As I'm typing this, it's Noon on Valentine's Day. I do not have a Valentine this year, but just know that if you are reading this that I love you. Yes, in that way.

Tomorrow I'm heading back to New Orleans for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras. I've never actually been on those days, so I'm really looking forward to it. I have 2 cases of beer and only one other person to help me drink it all. Thankfully I'm generous and will likely share!

Thursday I'm driving up to Dallas to visit my Uncle and then going to Fort Worth on Friday for the VCCW show and then heading back to Houston for the IWE show. Sunday is back to work for me, so back to the grind.

In the meantime, leave a comment and show me that you love me as mush as I love you!

The Saints are Super Bowl Champions because I made it so!

Yes, I went to New Orleans the weekend of the Super Bowl and gave the city and the team my blessings to win the Super Bowl and defeat the Colts in order to get revenge on the Colts for beating my Chicago Bears a couple of years ago.

Some may say that I jumped on the bandwagon, but I've told everyone that I know that the Saints are my #3 team, so I'm happy that they won. I really love the city of New Orleans and have mostly positive times down there, including this past weekend.

Friday night we drove in and partied on Bourbon Street until about 5 AM. The next day we had a very nice lunch and took in several Mardi Gras parades. I hit the hay early and we all came back Sunday afternoon in time to watch the Super Bowl. Most of us had to work this morning, so that's why we didn't stay there to watch it and party some more after the victory.

I am going back for Lundi Gras and actual Mardi Gras. So far it's just me and my friend Jody, but we are willing to let at least 2 more people come with us. We'll be staying at the same hotel that I stayed at this time, which is the Hotel Intercontinental on St. Charles Ave., which is right on the Uptown Parade Route.

Here's a sample photo of what you can see by going to the photo album which is linked at the top of this page:

WWE ECW, Superstars and Smackdown tapings from Toyota Center on December 8, 2009

I've lapsed almost another moth without updating this site. Ever since I created it, I wasn't totally sure what I was going to dedicate this to, but it's kind of worked itself out as a Houston Pro Wrestling and various Festival site. That's because those are the things that I enjoy, along with women, beer and cheese. All 5 of these things intertwine with each other on this site and in my life, so sit back and enjoy how I make the most of these things and share them with you here on my interwebage portal of fun!

Last night I met up with my friend Drew at Lucky's Pub. We enjoyed a few beers, some salad and pizza and then met up with my friend Jason and his son Nicholas outside of the Toyota Center for some World Wrestling Entertainment action! We walked in, got some beer, and found our seats. They were ALL the way in the first row of the section right behind the floor section. Super bad-ass! I didn't even realize when I bought them how good they were and I'm very happy that we didn't have kids in front of us holding up signs the entire night impeding our view.

The night started off with a dark match between Goldust and Kaval (who used to be Low-Ki in TNA and ROH). Then we got a decent ECW show, even though it did NOT have The Abraham Washington Show.

They changed the ring apron and taped a couple of matches for Superstars and then Smackdown taped. There was a dark promo segment to start things off with Batista and a dark World Heavyweight Championship match at the end between The Undertaker and CM Punk.

I'm not going to give away results/spoilers here, but if you look at my photos by clicking the link at the top of the page, you can probably figure out what happened.

All in all, it was good entertainment and I'm glad I was able to hang out with my friends and have a great time.

After the show, Jason and Nicholas heading home. Me and Drew wanted to wait out the traffic and I had invited people, specifically WWE wrestlers, to meet up with us at the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium. NO ONE took me up on my offer that I made via twitter.com/HoustonWrasslin, but that's OK. We had a good time hanging out with some of the beautiful Beer Goddesses and tossing back a cold one to end off a great night.

Again, you can see all of the pictures, broken up by show, on the photos page which can be found at the top.

Now I haven't forgotten about the true indy wrestling scene here in Houston. There have been some shows rescheduled and cancelled, so I haven't been able to check any out. This weekend things are back up and running. I'll be going to the Cypress VFW Hall on 290 to see Tugboat Taylor's World of Wrestling. I ran into Silky Baines at the WWE show, and I'm looking forward to cheering him on again in just a couple of days.

There's a CFW show in Texas City on Saturday, but I'm skipping that in favor or BEER! I plan on going to the new St. Arnold's Brewery that afternoon and then I'm going to my buddy Bill's annual party in the Heights. Since these events involve beer and most likely women, look for photos of them on Sunday!

That's it for now. I should have WOW photos and video up on early Saturday morning and more fun stuff to come! Leave a comment and let me know what you think or what else you might like to see.

Love always,

Robb Zipp

Festivals are FUN!

I went to two separate festivals this past weekend. Friday I went to Wurstfest in New Braunfels and Saturday I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival and had one hell of a Halloween weekend.

Here's a link to the web gallery of my photos from Wurstfest.

And here's a crappy video I shot of an awesome band:

Saint Arnold's Brewery on Saturday

They have tours every Saturday, and I haven't been in a few months. The last time I went, I told myself that I wouldn't be going back until they move because it's just too damn crowded.

That was until my friend Rachelle told me that she's moving to San Fransisco tomorrow and she wanted people to come see her at the Brewery before she left. How could I pass that up?!

Alexa and Elisha (?) was there and we met some cool new people. Nick and Kyle recently started a new webshow with help from a very pretty lady named Ashley. They interviewed me, but the footage of me and Rachelle and Nick dancing is the only part that made the cut. Check out their video:

I took a few pictures, but nothing too exciting. Silly me forgot to get a photo with the girl who's leaving us! D'oh! At least I took a picture of my beer with Alexa and Ashley!
