How I spent my last free weekend and what's on tap

So I had 5 days off from work and had to take advantage of my last free weekend away from work. I'm changing shifts in the morning and will have to work every weekend from here on out unless I use up vacation time. This makes me kind of sad, but I had to get off of the overnight shift and be a normal human being again.

I did a lot during this time and posted new photo galleries that can be found on the photo page which is linked at the top.

I went to the Sherwood Forest Faire out near Austin, Texas All-Star Wrestling's "Scar Wars" in Humble, Springfest Texas Wine and Art Festival in Old Town Spring, I tried to take my friend and her sons to see XWO Reborn Wrestling in Webster (listen to my podcast Thursday to hear more on that), and went to the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo (sans the Rodeo part).

I hope you enjoy the photos that I've chosen to share with you of my adventures because I don't know what adventures other than some local wrestling events I will be able to post. I might be cutting back on the wrestling, too. It all depends on how hard it is for me to get to the shows and get to work the next day. There should be more Astros and Dynamo stuff and hopefully even Houston Roller Derby stuff. That's all starting up in a few weeks, so look out!

I'm also going to be available for chatting, too. Look for robbzipp on AIM, Yahoo Messenger, or MSN.

OH, shit! I don't think I event posted my last podcast here. Oops! Go to www.blogtalkradio.com/robbzipp for the last one and (BIG NEWS!) go there EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT at 8 PM CENTRAL TIME TO HEAR "Talkin' Houston Wrasslin' LIVE! with Robb Zipp and friends!!!

Vacation is over

So I'm back from my vacation, back to the work grind, and back to my normal routine. That is, for the time being. I might get some news at work in the morning. We'll see.

But I did finally upload my photos from last week's adventures so go to the photo link at the top of the page and check 'em out, mmm'kay?

There is a set from my second adventure in New Orleans this month as well as the latest VCCW show in Fort Worth and IWE show here in Houston.

These might be the last time I see these promotions if things at work change.

Back from Mardi Gras for THIS?!

I went to New Orleans by myself this time for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras. I stayed that the Hotel Intercontinental which was a bigger deal than I even realized. It was in the perfect location to everything I needed and wanted.

Lundi Gras I hit it hard drinking Southern Star's Buried Hatchet Stout. It was freezing cold out, so I felt like I had to drink more to stay warm. The next morning, I realized that wasn't the best of ideas. I got up early to catch the Mardi Gras parades, took in Zulu, but had to bounce before Rex. I had to find some food and ended up not even eating all of what I had ordered. I went to a Mexican place and I had to sit outside and freeze while I tried to put down an average but over-priced Chicken Enchilada dinner at El Gato Negro across from the French Market. I took a cab ride back because I wasn't feeling well and took a nap. By the time I woke up, all of the parades were over and the only thing going on were drunk people wandering around the French Quarter. I strolled the streets for a while, but nothing too exciting was going on so I just called it a night.

I woke up this morning and got a kind of early start to the day. I knew I was going to take extra time to get back because I was going to make a couple of stops. I am a big hot sauce fanatic, so I had to finally stop by the Tabasco factory to see how things are done. Honestly, the factory tour was only a video that I could have seen online and a walkway with a window into the bottling line. We didn't get to see any of the actual barrels being aged, or the peppers being brought in. The gift shop was nice with acceptable prices, so I bought a few things for my parents and myself. I also sampled a few interesting food items they had out to enjoy. The Jalepeno Ice Cream was really good, actually.

I then made a stop in Jennings at the Mission Store to meet Ugly Shyla and her mom and to check out their thrift store. I ended up with a few items that they refused to let me pay for! Such sweet ladies, and I could tell everyone there was having fun. That's super awesome, in my opinion.

I made one more stop for some food in Vinton and then cruised back home with time to spare to do my live Talkin' Houston Wrasslin' LIVE podcast. It did not go well. First Skype crapped out on me. Then my mouse batteries died. Then my computer froze. Then I got on to my netbook and Blog Talk Radio was busy. When I did get in, they kept telling me that my passcode was incorrect even though I just copied and pasted it. I gave up and went to shoot the shit with the Wrestling Randomness guys, instead.  With about 20 minutes left, we called back and and had no problems. If you go and listen, skip to that point and you'll hear almost no talk about anything that the show was supposed to be about. Ah, well.

I do believe that is the last time I attempt to do a live show on BTR. I appreciate the fact that it's a free service, but I'd rather do things a better way. I'll work it out later, but I have an idea of what I want to get done.

Alright, I'm going to get off of here and go to bed. Tomorrow I'm going to Dallas to hang out with my Uncle Harvey and Friday I'm going to Ft. Worth for the VCCW show. I'm coming back on Saturday for the IWE show and then Sunday I go back to work.

I took a ton of pictures, and I'll take a ton more. I'll post here once I have them uploaded.

Break off Valentine's Vengeance before I celebrate Mardi Gras

Avast, loyal readers! Cap'n Zipp is back with TWO new photo sets from this weekend's wrestling adventures! As always, click on the photos link at the top of the page and check 'em out!

I will be talking about these shows in detail and also previewing the next IWE show on my podcast this Wednesday night at 9 PM CST over at www.blogtalkradio.com/robbzipp. Join the chat and call in if you have anything to add, mmm'kay?

As I'm typing this, it's Noon on Valentine's Day. I do not have a Valentine this year, but just know that if you are reading this that I love you. Yes, in that way.

Tomorrow I'm heading back to New Orleans for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras. I've never actually been on those days, so I'm really looking forward to it. I have 2 cases of beer and only one other person to help me drink it all. Thankfully I'm generous and will likely share!

Thursday I'm driving up to Dallas to visit my Uncle and then going to Fort Worth on Friday for the VCCW show and then heading back to Houston for the IWE show. Sunday is back to work for me, so back to the grind.

In the meantime, leave a comment and show me that you love me as mush as I love you!

10:03AM

Last night I went "Talkin' Houston Wrasslin'" on Blog Talk Radio again.

I did the second installment of "Talkin' Houston Wrasslin'" last night and had several guest call in and talk about all kind of things going on with Houston Pro Wrestling.

Jason Cook with CWF called in and talked about their youth clinic coming up next month, "Sexy" Steve DeMarco called in to talk about what's going on with IWE and their upcoming show on the 20th, M. Dirrrty called in right after words to correct a few things that Steve said and to give us some insight on the work of some of his clients and Tony Brooklyn called in and talked about the WOW/NWA-SW show tomorrow night in Cypress.

I also talked about the TASW show in Humble on Saturday and about a few other things. Listen to the podcast, leave me some feedback and let me know what you think! I did this show for 1 1/2 hours and could have gone longer. But was it too long? I'm not entirely sure what people want. I can do ti longer or shorter. Let me know. I'm also still not sure how often I should do this thing. Perhaps every Wednesday night? I kind of like the idea of that since there is no wrestling on TV on Wednesdays.

So, without further ado, here is episode #2!

I think you can subscribe via iTunes, but I haven't really checked into that. I guess I should.
